Seasonal Campaigns Without Diluting Your Brand
Christmas and other seasons are a chance to stand out, but only if you look like yourself. How to run seasonal campaigns that build, not blur, your brand.
Seasonal campaigns are a good chance to connect with customers. They can also be a way to lose your look. A snowflake here, a sudden new voice there, and by the end of the month people aren’t sure who they’re hearing from. These principles keep seasonal work on brand.

Start with what stays the same
Before designing anything seasonal, write down what must not change: your logo, main colours, typefaces, tone of voice and the way you treat customers. These are your distinctive assets, and they’re what people recognise. Everything festive is added on top.
Add a layer, not a costume
Seasonal ideas work best as a layer:

- An accent colour used sparingly alongside your palette
- A pattern, texture or illustration in your brand’s style
- A short message in your normal tone of voice
- A limited-edition product or pack that looks like your range

Avoid generic seasonal clip art that looks like everyone else’s.
Keep your voice
If your brand is dry and understated, don’t suddenly become loud and cheerful. If it’s warm and playful, don’t turn cold and corporate. Check our brand voice exercises to keep your tone steady.
Be real
Customers can tell when a seasonal message is only there to sell. Say something true: thank your customers, tell a story from the year, share how your team will spend the holidays, or give something useful.
Plan the details
- Choose one idea and use it across channels.
- Prepare templates. See social media templates for brand consistency.
- Check packaging and delivery. See Christmas packaging.
- Set dates for when it starts and ends. Take the festive layer down on time.
- Review afterwards. What worked, and what would you change?

Limit the range
You don’t need a different look for every occasion. One or two moments a year are enough for most brands. Too many make the brand feel scattered.
Measure it
Decide what success is before you start: sales, enquiries, sign-ups or reach. Compare with a normal period and note what you learn.
A short checklist
- Logo, colours and type unchanged
- Seasonal layer in the brand’s style
- Tone of voice unchanged
- A real message
- Clear start and end date
- Results recorded
